Callejoniada

Friday September 25, 2026

If you will be in SMA on Friday, you are welcome to join the traditional Callejoniada. A callejoneada is a lively, traditional Mexican wedding procession, particularly associated with Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende, where a parade of musicians, dancers, and sometimes giant mojigangas (papier-mâché puppets) leads the wedding party and guests through the streets, often including mariachi music, dancing, and tequila. It's a festive way to transition from the wedding ceremony to the reception, involving the wider community in the celebration. Food and More drinks after. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes suitable for walking on cobblestone streets. To match the theme of the callejoneada, please dress in white or off-white clothing.

Our Story:

It all began over twenty years ago, on a lively night at Circus Disco in Los Angeles. A mutual friend brought us together, not knowing that simple introduction would be the start of something truly special.

From the moment we met, Carlos felt a quiet spark—he’d always had a soft spot for Christian. But at the time, Christian was living abroad and in a relationship, and life had different plans for both of us.

Over the years, our paths would cross occasionally, and we remained in each other’s orbit. Life moved on—filled with relationships, growth, and change—but that early connection never quite faded.

Fast forward to 2024: we began seeing each other more often through mutual friends and familiar circles. Something felt different this time—timing, perhaps, or just the quiet certainty that we had found our way back to where we were always meant to be. In September, we made it official.

A few months later, on a magical trip to Mexico City, we got engaged. It felt right—natural, joyful, and filled with love.

Now, we’re beyond excited to start this next chapter together and share our journey with all of you. Thank you for being a part of our story.
